We all love wining and dining in fancy restaurants, but few of us can afford to do it every day. Here are some handy tips and tricks so you won't have to choose between paying rent and eating out!
1. ORDER FROM THE KIDS MENU
Everyone loves fish fingers and chips, right? Pull out your nostalgia card whilst ordering your favourite delicacies of old, and don't break the bank either! Effectiveness 4/10.
2. FILL UP ON THE FREE BREAD
It's there to be eaten, right? It would be rude not to eat it, and frankly a huge waste if you didn't. This one only works when eating in a group, so that you can use the fact your mates are actually ordering to blend in. Boring but filling! Effectiveness 5/10.
3. PRETEND TO BE AN INFLUENCER
This method takes some serious acting skills to pull off - you need to balance the right amount of self-importance along with adequate knowledge of the menu and the restaurant (some prep work may be necessary). Get your persona right, add the props; fancy camera, LED light and notebook and you're away! Effectiveness 7/10.
4. TELL YOUR DATE THAT YOU FORGOT YOUR WALLET
In my opinion, anyone who is shameless enough to utilise this method is deserving of a free dinner. Drop the bombshell, say your goodbyes and exit post-haste. No time for niceties with this one, as the chances are your date won’t believe you, but will still pay for you out of pity anyway. Effectiveness 7/10 (self-loathing reduces this to a 4/10).
5. PLANT A HAIR IN YOUR FOOD
We embarked down the path of morally questionable actions, and have now arrived at the downright fraudulent. For those in dire need. Be sure to use a hair that could be mistaken for your waiter's. If they have short dark hair, your long and curly blonde lock won't fool anyone. Effectiveness 8/10.
6. MINESWEEP LEFTOVERS
Needs very little explanation. If they aren't going to eat it, why shouldn't you? Make sure you've had all your vaccinations... Effectiveness 8/10.
7. DINE AND DASH
Running away from a restaurant without paying is not advisable. Technically it is theft and I can't recommend long periods of excessive exercise directly after a large meal. *If you do get caught, offer to wash the dishes!* Effectiveness 0/10 (don't break the law).
